Behind the Scenes: Meet the 2025 Interns

Written by Epicosity Staff | July 29, 2025

We say it every year, but intern season is truly one of our favorite times at Epicosity.

Why?

Because we get to do what we love most: champion growth.

We grow not just in the work we do, but in the people who step into it. This summer’s intern crew brings fresh ideas, asks good questions and jumps into agency life with zero hesitation (and several trips to the candy bowl).

They work hard, learn fast and make our team even better. Meet the 2025 interns who make this summer seriously epic.

Written by one of them. ✍️

Katie Gellerman

Social Content Intern

Graduated from USD with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Marketing with minors in Social Media Marketing and Business, Innovation & Entrepreneurship.

Why Epicosity?
“I’ve always been drawn to Epicosity since discovering them a couple of years ago through networking events, and I chronically kept up with the internship program through social media

Very fitting for my role now lol.

I was also blessed to have Eric Sivertsen, our CEO, as my alumni mentor my junior year, which solidified my decision to apply.”

What’s been the best part of the internship?
“Getting to learn something new every day about content strategy and all the little details that go into it. I work with some of the smartest people I’ve ever met, and I’m so grateful for the chance to keep growing and understanding how we meet each client’s unique needs.

My team also gives me a ton of creative freedom and genuinely trusts me, which has been huge.

Also… the unlimited supply of Diet Coke doesn’t hurt.”

Biggest Takeaway for the Future?
“Learning how to actually balance creativity with data-driven strategy has been so eye-opening. You really need both to create the best content.

Overall, I’ve learned that work doesn’t have to be stressful. The right company will give you a healthy balance of getting things done and having fun. I’m so grateful for that at Epicosity. Honestly, this has been the best internship I could have asked for. I love my Epic team :)”

Advice for Future Interns?
“You hear it all the time, but be a sponge! Write down every word, platform, tip or piece of feedback you come across. It’ll help you grow not just in your internship, but in your future career too.

When you're applying, show your enthusiasm. Be genuine about why you want the role, and try to connect with as many people in the industry as you can. Every conversation or message can lead to something valuable.”

Favorite Friday Lunch Spot?
“Crave 1000%. I’m a sucker for a good sushi roll. I also love walking to The Source for a midday coffee!”

Fun Facts About Katie

  • I can name every president in order (thank you 5th grade music class).
  • I have a twin brother!
  • I am obsessed with Diet Coke (see above).

Karlye Maras

Media Coordination Intern

Senior at USD majoring in Business Marketing with a minor in Legal Studies in Business.

Why Epicosity?
“I knew I wanted to work at an agency and had seen and heard a lot about Epicosity. I came to their Intern Open Agency Event and followed along closely with Epic throughout the spring semester.

I ultimately chose to accept a position at Epicosity because I was drawn to their unique culture. I also loved how integrated the different teams within the agency seemed... it overall seemed like a perfect fit!”

What’s been the best part of the internship?
“I have loved how hands-on I’ve been able to be. I feel like I am contributing to both our clients and culture in my day-to-day work! Everyone is very receptive to feedback and open to my ideas. The company culture here is by far the best I’ve ever seen!”

Biggest Takeaway for the Future?
“Honestly, everything! Our media department is full of great mentors who are always willing to teach! I feel like I learn something new in every conversation. I’ve been able to build a great foundation in Media and could picture myself starting a career in Marketing after graduation!”

Advice for Future Interns?
“Come ready to learn! You will be surrounded by so many knowledgeable people, so take advantage of every opportunity. Also get to know your coworkers personally! Connecting with them will help you work fluently with the team and feel more ingrained in the culture."

(Can I say culture one more time?)

Favorite Friday Lunch Spot?
“This is hard! I would say maybe Blarney Stone. They have a good variety of foods and drinks!"

Fun Facts About Karlye

  • I did rodeo up until high school!
  • I ran my first (and only) half marathon last spring!
  • I LOVE bulldogs (all types). I think they are precious and they always have HUGE personalities.

Xavier Carbonneau

Media & Strategy Intern

Graduated from Augustana with degrees in Journalism and Psychology.

Why Epicosity?
“Working at Epicosity seemed like an intriguing way to combine my passion for psychology and journalism with research, writing and working with data.”

What’s been the best part of the internship?
“I’ve really enjoyed meeting and working with all the great people here with so many different areas of expertise and personalities. The people have definitely been my favorite part. As far as actual work goes, experimenting with enrollment data in Sigma as we were all figuring out the new platform was another highlight.

Biggest Takeaway for the Future?
“I suppose that depends on what future roles I end up in, but in general, I got more valuable experience collaborating with people who have vastly different skills and interests on projects that require efficient teamwork.”

Advice for Future Interns?
“Don’t be afraid to throw yourself into new things you might not feel totally confident in or that may be somewhat outside your role. It is a great way to learn, and you may find something new you love or excel at. If not, you have found an opportunity to grow.”

Favorite Friday Lunch Spot?
“I have only been to Bread & Circus once, but I really enjoyed one of their chicken sandwiches, and they were super quick too, which is nice when you want to get back to work.

Fun Facts About Xavier

  • I was a substitute teacher before I started at Epicosity.
  • I am the oldest of four brothers.
