South Dakota was experiencing a particularly rough flu season in 2009, with more than 2,000 confirmed cases thanks in part to the H1N1 pandemic. With the “Stopping the Flu Starts with You” campaign, we drew the audience in with a humanized flu bug to indicate that, even when you’re minding your own business, the flu could be nearby, so it’s important to get vaccinated and protect yourself.
