Finding Solace || A Creative Journey to Combine Nonprofits
Sioux Falls has been home to The Compass Center, Family Services Inc. and Move to Heal for years. These three nonprofits were always searching for more ways to help those they serve. This year, they figured out how to make it happen by coming together to form a unified healing agency.
But to make care more accessible under one nonprofit, they also needed a new brand that could capture the unity, trust and compassion they strive for. That’s where the team at Epicosity knew we could step in.
We believe in supporting the causes and organizations we believe in. Together, we worked with their teams to create their new brand name, Solace.
Rooted in Compassion
So began a thoughtful journey fueled by collaboration and creativity. How do we honor a merger that unites over 120 years of community service? And most importantly, how do we create a brand that truly speaks to those who need it most?
It all came down to one thing: the shared purpose of all three organizations, which is to ensure anyone in need of healing can find solace.
The name itself reflects comfort, presence and peace. Solace is a safe harbor for anyone seeking support.
Intentional Design
The mission behind Solace is simple yet powerful: to empower people to navigate their unique journeys toward emotional well-being, resilience and hope. Every color, curve and word of the brand was designed to reflect that mission. With the name “Solace” decided, our creatives and video team set out to capture the heart of the brand.
The Solace logo combines abstract shapes to form an “S” and a horizon reflected over calm water, symbolizing the transformation that happens through mental and emotional healing. Its subtle yin-and-yang quality evokes harmony and renewal, while the warm, gradient color palette mirrors the journey from struggle to serenity.
Every detail of the design tells a story of courage, change and light emerging from darkness.
Our video team focused on embodying the name through visuals and storytelling, bringing life to the individual journeys on the path to finding Solace.

Healing Together
Solace represents a new beginning for the community as an agency that offers crisis care, therapy, healing arts and community outreach all in one place. As an agency rooted in the same Sioux Falls community, we’re passionate about uplifting organizations that make our home stronger.
Our connection to this mission runs deep. In the past, Epicosity has provided other pro bono creative work for the Compass Center to help raise awareness for survivors and essential community resources. Epicosity’s partner and Chief Digital Officer, Chris Kappen, serves as the Board President at Solace, making this collaboration both professional and personal for our team.
We are honored to have been a part of this effort. Through design, storytelling and strategy, our goal was to reflect what Solace really stands for: a place where every person is met with understanding, expertise and unwavering support. We cannot wait to see the good Solace brings to our community.
