The Sioux Falls Police Department needed backup, Epicosity answered the call.
Needing more than a few new recruits in short order, Epicosity stepped up to the task, assisting the Sioux Falls Police Department with a campaign that highlighted the department’s core values, commitment to safety, professional development, and love for the communities they serve.
The Goal
The goal was anything but simple – generate 450 applications. But not just any applications. The applicants needed to be highly qualified leads. Recruits with a high probability of completing the training and earning a spot inside a department with a rich history of exemplary performance, impeccable character and outstanding results.
The key performance indicators for our campaign would include the number of applications received, the number of conditional offers extended and the improvement in applicant scorecards. Like we said – not simple. But definitely doable.
The Story Behind "Answer the Call"
You would think that recruiting law enforcement officers involves enticing recruits with a promise of action, Hollywood-style "bad-assery," video-game-style gear and armored vehicles. Well, you’d be wrong. It’s easy to forget that they’re people, like you and me. In fact, they may be among the best of us. It’s been said that there’s three types of people in this world; wolves, sheep and shepherds. We looked for shepherds – Service-minded team players. People like nurses, teachers, athletes and military folks. People with a deep sense of community and those who take pride in making a difference.

The Solution
Working collaboratively with the Sioux Falls PD, we facilitated a discovery session that included members from multiple departments and disciplines. Our findings led to a very specific strategy that informed our creative approach, speaking exactly to those we were calling on. Social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and LinkedIn were central to the plan, supported by programmatic ads and targeted messaging to resonate with audience values of safety, trust, and community service.
