The Challenge

In approaching a campaign that would speak to an audience for whom smoking has become a regular part of daily life, it became about making the benefits as tangible as possible. There’s nothing harder in breaking a bad habit than seeing the bigger picture.

The Solution

Simply stating that oft-cited adage, “quitting will add years to your life,” “More Good Years” takes into account some of the psychographic sentiments of our target audience by focusing less on the quantity, and more on the quality. As such, the narrative and messaging took shape focusing more so on how you might spend your later years when impacted by having habitually smoked, versus not. Envisioning a future where you’re sitting out life’s big moments versus living in them.

The Work

Phase one of our multi-year campaign established the messaging strategy tapping into the idea of ensuring your later years are ones of the utmost quality. Additional phases included location shoots to demonstrate scenarios in which smoke breaks take you away from life’s key formative moments. This included the production of a short film following a lifelong smoker who perpetually misses out when he habitually uses tobacco, a cut of which was aired during the Super Bowl.
